Okay, since I am getting sick of telling everyone individually what is going on with this pregnancy and whatever else is going on with my little family… Here is my brand spankin’ new blog just for family stuff.
Last Sunday night I was admitted into the hospital due to bleeding. A lot of bleeding. Scary? Yes. By the time we got to the hospital the bleeding had slowed a TON and was basically just spotting. They didn’t want to check my cervix because at my last ultrasound they said that I had low lying placenta (which means i could have had a placenta previa) and checking me could’ve cause more problems. They ordered an ultrasound and wheeled me down and checked everything out. We learned that I do not have a placenta previa, that baby is measure about 2 weeks bigger than he should be, and that I have a lot of amniotic fluid. We then had to wait until morning to get in and have another ultrasound. After checking everything again they also checked my cervix and still couldn’t figure out why I was bleeding. So, they ordered a bunch of labs. (I’m pretty sure at this point they thought I was crazy or that I just had freaked out over a little blood and was overreacting.) However, when they got my bloodwork back they found out that my blood count was really low. When the doctor came in to talk to me he said “Wow, you lost a lot of blood.” … Yup. Sure did. Anyway, he told me that it was low enough that I might need to be given a unit of blood and that they were going to redraw and check it again in a couple of hours to make sure. I didn’t end up needing blood because it kind of just hovered right above the point where the would’ve given me blood. After running a bunch of different labs they’ve decided that I have a “Placental Abruption” which basically means that part of my placenta detached from my uterus thus causing the bleeding. And after consulting several doctors they decided that I need to stay in the hospital for about a week to be “observed” and to monitor fetal movement/heart rates/etc. and to see if I had any contractions (I did have some contractions) And that is how I spent the last week. I laid in bed and watched marathons of american chopper and various kids movies that were playing. They rechecked everything yesterday and my blood count has gone up (probably due to all the iron they pumped me full of) and my amniotic fluid has gone down to a normal amount and baby is still big and healthy (and breech).
As of right now this is where everything stands:
- I will still be delivering baby on February 11 via csection unless on of the following happens:
- There is any sign of fetal distress
- I start bleeding again
- My water breaks
- Contractions start
- I have to have NST’s and AFI’s twice a week until I deliver
- They want to check his lung development (they also gave me a couple of steroid shots while I was in the hospital. Let me just tell you… THEY HURT WAY BAD)
- I am on bedrest until delivery. Or rather, I am on as much bedrest as I can possibly get with Chanel around.
I also want to get addresses from everyone so I can send out announcements when he is born and thanks yous. You can either text it to me, email me or message me on facebook.
